As for me, well I’m a guy that has shot around in the driveway for decades, working on my basketball shooting technique over and over again. Recently, I invented a shooting device that has proven to make coaching basketball easier, especially when it comes to improving free throw
shooting.

Ronn lives in Oregon, and I live in Michigan. Nonetheless, I recently got on a train, then rented a car, and I took my FREE THROW TRAINER to the free throw trainer.

I watched Ronn in his barn in Oregon knock down free throw after free throw with an effortless stroke. I listened to him speak about his mission as part of the NBSA to improve shooting and particularly free throw shooting around the world. Ronn had my FREE THROW TRAINER on his hoop, and it was easy to see that it was well worn from constant shooting. Ronn had really given my little invention a real workout. Wow… what a gratifying experience for me.

Ronn is like so many other coaches. You have heard it before, that “people don’t care how much we know, unless they know how much we care.” Basketball coaching is about trust and it’s about passing along a passion to a player and to a team, so that they are hungry to improve for their coach, for their teammates and for themselves.

Ronn cares enormously about the spirit of the game, the spirit of the shooter he coaches, and the art of basketball coaching. The joy that Ronn gets from teaching is written all over his face, and I experienced it as a great gift. You can’t just talk techniques with Ronn without picking up on his energy and drive to teach, so that others may learn. Ronn has spent hundreds of hours in practice to improve his own free throw shot. He has learned a heap from the instruction of experts, and is now an expert himself. Ronn is passing along the knowledge he has gained to those who want to shoot the perfect free throw.
